It’s been some time since I have discovered this service and thought it was time that I share it with you.

Twitter is this new buzz concept within the 2.0 bubble and blogging stuff.

Twitter is an intermediary between blogging, SMS and IM (Instant Messaging).
The concept is that every user owns a personal page on which he posts short messages (through SMS or IM). Users can subscribe to his feed and hence get alerted of every message he sends and reply to them through short message or IM as well.

Plus, feed owners are able to maintain the list of people receiving their messages through lingo which gives you ability to have public or private feed/conferences/whathever.

There is a real high potential behind this concept, it’s been already adopted by thousands of people and is on-going to be a major actor message medium.

You say: "How can this interest me ?". Well, your friends and family might often be interested in knowing what you’re actually up to. It’s just those "unsignificant" everyday’s life things you share with people in a conversation and that you’re now able to broadcast to people you like and others birds responding to your twitters.

There is this post from Leisa which explains pretty well what she calls Ambiant intimacy in which Twitter just fits pretty well.

Mac users can also use Twitterrific desktop app to manage their twits!

SAP has been encouraging its employees about blogging. Two of its main communities (SDN and BPX) even offer a blogging platform in order to allow employees, customers and experts to blog about SAP and its solutions.

When it comes to SAP employees, they are encouraged to talk about solutions, technical topics and other aspects of SAP while conforming to the code of conduct policy. However special guidelines have been released for bloggers in order to facilitate the most appropriate and rich conversations.

Here follows the guidelines:

SAP’s business conduct guidelines apply on the web as well. At all times, SAP employees must obey their local laws, adhere to regulation SAP and its employees are bound to and act ethically. It is every employee’s obligation to review and understand SAP’s code of conduct policy prior to blogging.

1. Understand that you are legally responsible for your blog commentary - bloggers need to respect copyright, fair use and financial disclosure laws. You could run into legal trouble if you talk about revenue projections, future product launch details, acquisition targets, corporate roadmaps or share prices. As good practice, use common sense and don’t blog about anything that is declared or believed to be company confidential. If Quiet Period restrictions are in effect, do not violate them.

2. Identify yourself – When you blog about SAP or SAP-related matters, it’s encouraged that you include your name, title, role at SAP. People like to know what kind of person is writing about these issues. By not hiding behind a pseudonym or an anonymous post you provide authenticity to what you state.

3. Write in the first person – When you blog about SAP or SAP-related matters to an external audience, make it clear that you are speaking for yourself and not on behalf of SAP. Many bloggers list a disclaimer on their front page in good practice saying who they work for, but that your point of view is not necessarily the SAP official point of view.

4. Write in your native language - feel free to write in your native tongue and own unique style.

5. Be honest – telling the truth is the best policy for ensuring your blog or post is well-received and deemed as authentic by the community. Also, if you make a mistake, fix it and make clear that you have done so. Respond to comments and trackbacks respectfully and in a time sensitive manner.

6. Respect - respect your audience, co-workers, customers and SAP. Do not cite or reference clients, partners or suppliers without their approval. Do not use ethnic slurs, personal insults or obscenities against your co-workers. Do not provide SAP or another’s confidential or other proprietary information unless given permission.

7. Quality, not quantity is key – Offer the blogosphere thoughtful commentary with rich context on enterprise software topics. Link to other bloggers and media articles. Make your content rich and interesting for others to read.

8. Add value to the blogosphere – be informative and interesting about enterprise software topics. Write on issues you know and care about (be sure to check your facts and figures as someone else will). Blogs can be used as a very effective way of demonstrating your expertise on CRM, xApps or Enterprise SOA to name a few.

9. Be engaged – Take some time to read other bloggers’ postings. Know what the current conversations are and what people are saying in order to see how you can contribute new and original thought. You should try to add at least two links per post.

10. Add a comments link - If you plan on starting your own blog, you should engage your audience by providing a comments link that would allow for feedback to be posted to your blog entry. A two-way communication exchange allows for a more meaningful conversation to occur around a post.

11. Blog postings may generate media coverage – The media may generate story ideas from your blog. If a member of the media contacts you, please notify and work with the Global Communications PR team directly. Lists of contact persons in SAP Global Communications and local/regional PR employees are available at www.sap.com/company/press/prcontacts.

12. Remember your day job/responsibilities outside of blogging – good blogging can take some time, but it is important that this does not interfere with your rat SAP.

While complying to these guidelines, everyone is encouraged to engage public communications on SAP.

Life, the world, everything…

On cherche à s’imposer.
